A Note from Amy Cerniglia
Dear Peace River Presbytery,
As I prepare to relocate from Peace River Presbytery after six years, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for the support and relationships throughout Peace River Presbytery that have been integral to my journey as a candidate for ministry of Word and Sacrament. One of the unique blessings of studying at The University of Dubuque Theological Seminary has been the opportunity to live and serve a church in my local context without the need to move away to a separate location for study.
Throughout my seminary studies, many Teaching Elders have shared their wisdom and experience in ministry with me, shaping my understanding of what it means to be a pastor and servant in the Church. Our Ruling Elders have offered invaluable insights, partnership and prayers throughout my seminary journey. Countless other members and leaders within the presbytery, especially the Committee on Preparation for Ministry, have inspired and encouraged me to continue through the trials of Hebrew classes and ordination exams.
The fellowship provided by our Presbytery retreats, my service as a member and then co-moderator of the CCC Team alongside Jim O’Harrow, and participation in Stated Meetings has deepened my sense of belonging and shared mission in our presbytery. As I wrap up my time in Florida, I remember the words in Romans 12 that speak of us being one body in Christ, each with unique gifts to contribute. However you serve our presbytery, you have helped me grow into the body of Christ and nurture gifts for ministry.
Last year, Inquirer Carson Brown preached at a Stated Meeting about the pineapple as a symbol of hospitality. Thank you for your hospitality in “sharing the pineapple” and welcoming me to serve Peace River through the CCC Team and more. Wherever God calls me next, I will always be grateful that God called me for the last six years to this presbytery.
In Christ,
Amy Cerniglia
