Rev. Dr. Taylor McFarland Hill

Taylor Hill was ordained on Florida presbytery of the Presbyterian Church, U.S., in July of 1967.  During his years of service as a Presbyterian minister he uplifted and guided “congregations across various states, including Florida, California, Texas, Alaska, and Oregon. Taylor’s ministry was characterized by his deep compassion, insightful sermons, and unwavering dedication to fostering community and connection within each church he served.”

During the 1990’s, Taylor served as Interim Pastor at First Presbyterian Church, St. Petersburg, FL; Interim Pastor, Trinity Presbyterian Church in Palm Coast, FL.; Interim Pastor, St. Andrews Presbyterian Church; Sun City, FL.; Interim Pastor, Temple Terrace Presbyterian Church, Temple Terrace, FL. Following his retirement from the PCUSA in Tampa Bay Presbytery in August of 2002, Taylor served the Community Presbyterian Church, Englewood, FL.; the Palmetto Presbyterian Church, Palmeto, FL.; and the First Presbyterian Church of Sarasota, FL.

Taylor was a friend to his colleagues in ministry in Peace River Presbytery and served on the Pastoral Care Team of the presbytery.  When Taylor could no longer drive to meet up for lunch and say a prayer with and for colleagues (or take clergy hang gliding or motorcycling), he was known for his weekly Saturday afternoon phone calls letting them know he was praying for them as they prepared for leading worship. Taylor’s gentle spirit, gift of laughter and love, and dedicated commitment to the Gospel of Jesus Christ endeared him to lay and clergy alike.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 8^th at 3:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Sarasota, 2050 Oak St, Sarasota, FL 34237
