PHOTOS! Rebuilding Wintergarden

by Wendy Rainey

Step by step, our church building is recovering from Ian and readying for what is to come!

We were blessed to get our roof fixed very quickly and managed to upgrade it to metal.

The kitchenette / cabinet and sink area by the offices is almost most finished!

The loss of some of the roof resulted in 15 hours of rain in our sanctuary. Now sanctuary repairs are now well underway.

There’s more still happening outside of the church – on the campus and in the pantry garden area.

Our sign is back up. Lightning for it will follow soon.

They’ve laid the bricks for the new outdoor kitchen! Pictured is WPC’s very own Pastor Devon along with Pastor Nathan from FPC Myrtle Beach, who came to learn more about what we have going on here so he can get his mission team ready and excited about coming.

New shelves have been installed in our pantry with help from one of our work teams.

A small paving project improved our pantry space tremendously!

Drainage improvements will hopefully prevent flooding in the client loading area of our food pantry this rainy season. During the drainage improvements, they also leveled the area behind the container all the way to the outdoor kitchen patio which will give us added outdoor storage area.

Additionally, teams have made great improvements to the gardens.

The flowers on our fountain, killed by Ian, have been replaced by amazing Wintergarden members, Rick and Kymmie!

And an eagle scout project, along with our food forest and community gardens, will help us provide food 24/7.

I am interested in knowing more about the pantry garden. Is it completely run by the pantry or other church/community members? When does planting begin?

Good Morning, great progress. Wondering if there is a helpings hands’ “wish list” for recovery from Hurricane Ian?If, so, please share as we continue to hold your congregation in prayer and consideration of a work day at Wintergarden.
